Must see...!

As usual, the trailer doesn't do this movie justice. I saw it today, and it's one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. Absolutely incredible. GO SEE IT!

I'm surprised to hear you liked this film, not because I've seen it and disliked it, but because the trailer had struck me as its being a film about how the world turns on women having babies. It looks like some conservative scare film about how everything falls to shit when women aren't barefoot and pregnant. But if you liked the film, I would imagine the trailer misled me!

Hmmmm. I hadn't even thought of that interpretation. My take on "Children of Men" (hate the title, btw) was undoubtedly influenced by seeing "An Inconvenient Truth" a week ago. (Films tend to open later here in Ireland.) Thus, I saw CoM as yet another wake-up call. A strong indictment of humanity’s senseless, foolish squandering of our beautiful planet and our future in insane wars and devastating environmental degradation. Throughout CoM, the image of a resurgent nature is contrasted with the blight of human development. And I was shocked at how powerfully an absence of children underscored hopelessness.

The film’s far from perfect. But I found it incredibly powerful and moving, perhaps the best take on a dystopic future since Bladerunner. I would highly recommend seeing it.
